Upgrade Decision Framework
Three questions that determine which plan is right for your practice.
If yes, upgrade to Pro. Online intake forms save 20-40 minutes per intake. At 3+ intakes per week, that is over 2 hours per month in data entry eliminated.
Yes = ProIf yes, upgrade to Pro. Document templates auto-populate client information, case details, and custom fields. Estate planning, family law, and real estate practices hit this threshold routinely.
Yes = ProIf yes, upgrade to Advanced. Custom matter fields let you track case-specific data that doesn't fit standard contact/matter fields. Advanced reporting shows billing, productivity, and collection metrics per attorney.

MyCase Accounting Add-on: $39/month
Adds full P&L reporting, income categorised by practice area, expense tracking, and firm-level bookkeeping. This is separate from trust accounting, which is free on all plans. The accounting add-on is a flat $39/month regardless of user count.
LawPay: Separate Payment Processor
LawPay charges 2.95% per credit card transaction and $2 per eCheck. These fees are separate from the MyCase subscription. LawPay is integrated into MyCase's invoicing workflow but billed independently. See the billing and invoicing cost page for full LawPay analysis.
MyCase does not charge for storage overages, matter count, or contact count. All plans include unlimited matters and documents. The only true extras are LawPay processing fees and the optional accounting add-on.
Plan FAQ
Can I have users on different MyCase plans?
No. All users in a MyCase account must be on the same plan tier. You cannot mix Basic and Pro users within one account. If any user needs a Pro or Advanced feature, the entire account must be upgraded. This is different from some competitors that allow per-user plan assignment.
What happens if I exceed any limits in MyCase?
MyCase does not enforce hard limits on contacts, matters, or documents on any plan tier. All plans include unlimited matters and document storage. There are no overage charges. The plan tiers differentiate on features, not usage volume.
Is the MyCase free trial full-featured?
Yes. The 10-day free trial gives you access to all features including Advanced plan features. No credit card is required. This is the recommended way to evaluate which plan tier you need before committing. After the trial, your data is retained for 30 days before deletion if you choose not to subscribe.
Can I pay annually and switch to monthly mid-year?
No. Annual billing is a 12-month commitment. You cannot switch billing frequency until your annual term expires. You can upgrade to a higher plan tier mid-year (prorated), but you cannot downgrade or switch to monthly billing until renewal. The recommendation is to start monthly, prove value, then switch to annual at your first renewal to capture the $120/user/year savings.
What is the annual savings per user on each plan?
Annual billing saves exactly $10/user/month on every plan tier, which equals $120/user/year. Basic annual is $39 vs $49 monthly. Pro annual is $89 vs $99 monthly. Advanced annual is $109 vs $119 monthly. For a 5-person firm, switching from monthly to annual billing saves $600/year across all tiers.
How do plan upgrades and downgrades work?
Upgrades take effect immediately and you are billed the prorated difference for the remaining billing cycle. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. There is no penalty for upgrading at any time. If you upgrade from Basic to Pro mid-month, you pay only for the remaining days of the month at the Pro rate.
